Here at Inspired by Lakeland we've always loved the humble herdwick - hardy icon of the high fells. So just before Christmas we contacted Evelyn Sinclair - illustrator of our series of children's sticker books - to see if she'd like to draw a series of sheep in gently humorous situations.
Over a bottle of wine (or two) the IbL team jotted down as many sheep puns as we could, from the (we like to think) ingenious - 'Woolly jumper', 'Shorn the Sheep' - to the groan-inducing 'Baa code' and 'Ewe turn'. We got to throw a few Lakes jokes in there too - like 'Rush hour' (sheep in the road) and 'Rigwelted' - the old Cumbrian term for a sheep on its back.
Evelyn then worked her artistic magic, bringing each drawing to life. We love the results. You can buy her designs as gorgeous tea-towels (100% cotton); place mats and coaster sets (sustainably-sourced Eucalyptus board base, melamine surface, cork backing) - all made in Britain.
